Speaker IDs

Please remove the function that makes entering the Speaker ID in the colloquy menu automatically replace those tags throughout the transcript, or at least make that function optional. For example, when I open the colloquy menu and type MR. SMITH in the space for S1, it changes every instance of S1: in the transcript to MR. SMITH: This feature is not helpful because many of us are not numbering our speakers by the order they appear in and it then makes the transcript very confusing when trying to figure out what you have and have not already changed.

Please do not take this function away. But making it optional would be a potential solution.

This feature has been super helpful in some situations (like Tax Court calendar calls that are short and clear). I would agree with somehow making it optional.

I find that if I add speakers to the colloquoy at the time they are encountered in the audio and not all at once before I start listening to the audio, then it will put the proper ID in. For instance, I add THE COURT at the S1 speaker audio (if the first speaker happens to be the Judge), and if the next speaker to speak is Attorney Smith, I will add Mr. Smith at the S2 spot, and so on. This helps a lot as I then do not have to change the speaker names going through the document. Just don't put ALL the names in at once before you start working on the report.

Leda Yeager Yes, that does work. However, for years I have been doing it one way; Plaintiff attorney S1, Defendant attorney S2, The Defendant S3, etc., and now, I have to have the S1 The Court or The Clerk, whoever speaks first, and in a job I'm currently working on, the State's attorney speaks third and the Defendant's attorney ended up being S6. Very annoying.
